Job Summary: The Public
Relations Officer will use all forms of media and communication to build,
maintain and manage the reputation of Dwelling Places in the community,
non-profit sector, and with the government, in order to gain understanding and
support; to manage and supervise the Public Relations Dept.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

- Research and analyze organization or
campaign strategy by coordinating surveys, researching recent reports and
articles, or constituency research - Represent DP and speak in public at
presentations, press conferences, radio and TV interviews, and meetings - Initiate and plan PR campaigns: defining
goals; analyzing problems and opportunities; liaising with management and
partners - Writing and editing press releases,
in-house newsletters, speeches, articles and annual reports - Strategize and implement ways to maintain
DP’s identity, name and reputation - Render support in preparing and
supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail
leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs - Answer enquiries from individuals,
journalists and other organizations - Build and maintain good working relations
with the media, including local and national newspapers, magazines, radio
and television - Organize special events such as press
conferences, tours, and sponsorship events and the Journey of Hope (JOH) - Advance community relations through events
such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives - Oversee all photography, videography and
web designing needs of the organisation - Manage and supervise staff in Public
Relations Department - Conduct department meetings
- Maintain lines of communication with upper
level managers and board of directors - Keep track of department performance and
implement new strategies if necessary - Prepare and submit monthly written reports

Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant for the Dwelling Places (DP)
Public Relations Officer job placement should preferably hold a University
degree or diploma in Public Relations, Journalism and communication or
related field. - At least three years of prior work
experience. - Significant experience in public speaking.
- Self motivated and a possesses a high
level of maturity - Should be self directed and able to follow
tasks through - Fundraising and proposal writing
experience is required - Previous working experience in the NGO
setting is an added advantage - Excellent written and oral communication
skills - Ability to persuasively communicate to
media in a high standard - Ability to analyze and research.
- Good problem-solving skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to
implement new programs or changes - Excellent interpersonal skills, with the
ability to develop and maintain relationships - Proficient computer skills, including
Microsoft Office - Proficiency in photography, videography
and web designing. - High sense of maturity and self direction.
