suffering. LWF Uganda works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them
to realize their potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their
own problems and needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in
Pader, Kitgum, Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer Protection will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring
and reporting of the Protection of Human Dignity issues in
Adjumani district s refugee settlements. The Protection of Human
Dignity Project is a multi-sectoral project with interventions in SGBV, protection,
livelihoods and legal assistance. The Project Officer will therefore be
responsible for ensuring that diversity and integration of interventions is
consistently applied throughout the project.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The
    jobholder will oversee, plan and implement all project activities as per
    the approved project documents, LWF/DWS policies and procedures.
    The Project officer must ensure an inclusive, participatory and
    transparent implementation process. He/She must ensure that the project
    activities are implemented in adherence to the humanitarian principles and
    standards.
  • Build
    and maintain close working relationships with the community leaders and
    local authorities in the both the host and refugee communities in
    Adjumani district. He/she will liaise and consult with the Protection
    Coordinator, relevant local authorities, institutions, agencies, and other
    stakeholders in coordination and implementation of project activities.
  • Tasked
    with the identification, selection and registration of all project
    beneficiaries based on the approved criteria. He/she must ensure
    that planning, coordination, and implementation with and participation of
    the beneficiaries is carried out in line with donor requirements and
    project documents.
  • Oversee
    the implementation of the PDA project activities and devise strategies in
    relation to the core humanitarian standards and LWF established
    policies. The project officer must ensure the execution of activities and
    strategies are consistent with the project documents and LWFUganda Programme
    strategies.
  • Prepare
    and submit to the Protection Coordinator regular (monthly, quarterly and
    annual) and timely reports and work plans on this project
    operations, related project activities and achievements, with respect to
    the requirements stipulated in project documents, and in accordance with
    LWF/WS policy. These should also be in line with donor/related agencies reporting
    requirements and LWF/DWS stipulated reporting guidelines.
  • Perform
    any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time by the
    subprogram Manager or Team Leader of their designate.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World
    Relief (LWR) Project Officer Protection job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s
    a degree in Social Sciences, Development studies, Psychology, Law or its
    equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least three years’ experience in Child
    protection, care and development in a humanitarian setting.
  • Broad knowledge and experience of
    humanitarian principles, laws and standards.
  • High level of integrity, commitment and
    professional responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently with
    guidelines and clear expectations.
  • Ability to tolerate cultural, education
    and religious diversity in the work place.
  • Excellent communication & IT,
    organizational and presentation skills
  • Hands on experience on protection in
    emergencies;
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    project management cycle, humanitarian principles and standards including
    SPHERE, HAP and the Code of Conduct
  • Computer literacy with full knowledge of
    office applications, internet and email
