the International Development Association (IDA) towards the implementation of
the Uganda Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Services Improvement Project
herein after referred to as the “Project.” The objectives of the Project are
to: (i) to improve utilization of essential health services with a focus on
reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health services in target
districts; and (ii) Scale up birth and death registration BDR) services.
Officer will support the implementation of the workplan for Component 3 on
Strengthening Capacity to Scale-up Delivery of Births and Deaths Registration
Services. The successful candidate will coordinate the scheduling of
activities, consolidating progress reports, receiving and processing and
processing correspondence and liaison with Ministry of Health.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee implementation of scheduled
project activities and mobilise all departments responsible so that
activities are implemented on schedule. - Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and
adhoc Project progress reports. - Work as secretary for Project related
meetings. - Maintain project records, assets and
correspondence. - Offer timely support in component
management and supervision - Keenly monitor the progress of
implementation of the Project activities at NIRA - The incumbent will provide administrative
and logistical support to the Project Team at NIRA - Regular follow-up and liaise with District
Local Governments, Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders that are
involved in the implementation of the project.
Experience:
- The applicants must be Ugandan Nationals
with a basic university degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Business
Administration or any other related field. - Possession of a Master’s Degree in Public
Health, Project Management, Development Studies, Demography, International
Relations, MBA or a related discipline - At least seven years’ experience in
design, implementation and monitoring of development projects funded by
multi-lateral or bilateral agencies. - Previous experience in the public sector
is desired - Ability to work under pressure and meet
tight deadlines with minimum supervision - Computer literate and competent in the use
of MS Word and Ms Excel. - Strong analytical, planning and
organizational skills - Excellent interpersonal skills,
communication skills, both oral and written. - Strong coaching and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
and meet strict deadlines. - Demonstrated integrity and confidentiality
in handling public matters/resources - Willingness to undertake regular field
visits and interact with different stakeholders, especially the primary
stakeholders; - Familiarity with government systems and
procedures - Familiarity with World Bank/ related
multi-lateral or bilateral agencies’ systems and procedures
