development sector we specialise in the monitoring and implementation of
projects as well as in the provision of experts in developing countries.
Assistant provides support to HORIZONT3000 Regional Office East Africa in
Kampala in line with the office practices and donor requirements. The incumbent
supports the Regional Director East Africa and supports to successful project
implementation in cooperation with the team for Technical Assistance Programme
and Finance Projects. The project interventions encompass the areas of rural
development, natural resource management and human rights / civil society and
climatic change in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Responsibilities:
- General administrative support to Regional
Office in Kampala - Ensure adherence to project contracts and
reporting deadlines; compliance management
- Support preparation of trainings,
workshops, Sharing Events, exposure visits and team meetings - The incumbent will ensure that all
trainings, workshops, Sharing Events and team meetings from HORIZONT3000
in East Africa are well documented and saved as hard and soft copies - Support budget planning and accountability
for trainings, workshops, sharing events and team meetings - Regularly assess the filing structure of
TA – Programme and Finance Projects and ensure completeness and filing of
relevant documents
- Facilitate contributions for the quarterly
HORIZONT3000 East Africa Newsletter - Tasked with the compilation of
HORIZONT3000 East Africa Newsletter jointly with technical advisors and
Project Partners
- Support preparation and assist
organisation of Sharing Events and trainings with local partners
(logistics, invitations, etc.) - Support preparation and assist launch of
calls for Specific Trainings, systematizations, exchange visits for
project partners - Review all reports from partners for
completeness and correctness before submitting them to the respective
Programme Officer - Tasked with compiling contributions and
reports from the annual technical advisor meeting, KNOWHOW3000 events and
other and save updates on the server and on KNOWHOW3000 internet platform.
Experience:
- The applicant should have at least three
years of hands-on practical experience as Assistant in administration
including basic financial management, office management, compliance
management - Previous work experience in Kenya,
Tanzania and Uganda (at least in two countries) - Operational experience in development
co-operation, preferably in an (international) NGO - Ideally profound knowledge in rural development,
natural resource management or human rights / civil society (at least one
filed) - Computer literacy i.e. hands-on skills in
MS-Office programmes - Well organised, result-oriented and very
good analytical skills - Strong team player
- Strong communicational and organisational
skills and interested to work in an international team - High degree of self-initiative and
self-motivated nature - Willingness and motivation to learn
(project management, knowledge management, etc.) - Competences in the following fields will
count as an additional value: - Hands-on experience in project proposal
writing and implementation of EU-funded projects - Previous experience and /or very good
knowledge in the field of climate change - Excellent English writing skills and good
command of Kiswahili
