• Tasked with checking and correcting
  selected editorial copy, headlines and captions for facts, accuracy,
  taste, house-style, language use, clarity, balance to conform to Editorial
  policy.
• Coordinate NTV’s journalism on social
  media. This may include a combination of content drawn from newspapers,
  websites or audience and require a promotion of stories that pose debate
• Keenly track comments about NTVU’s
  journalism on blogs, websites, and social media, for trends, ideas and
  issues of importance, and to translate these into stories and draw
  insights to guide Producers
• Drive social media engagement including
  responding to public comments if necessary, in consultation the relevant
  departmental heads and editorial team
• Work in liaison with the Webmaster to
  compress and upload content (video and audio) to the respective active
  channels.
• Monitor trends in social media tools and
  applications, and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase the use
  of social media at NTV Uganda.

• The ideal candidate for the Online Editor
  job placement must hold a basic University degree
• At least three years of online editing
  experience in a real time news environment.
• Extremely fast, accurate, resourceful and
  composed to cope with a relentless copy flow
• Extensive general knowledge for spotting
  factual errors as well as good critical thinking skills in order to
  recognize inconsistencies or vagaries
• Familiarity with a range of online
  environments, such as blogs and social networks
• Deep understanding of news content
  planning and editorial strategies; ability to execute plans and strategies
  through others and on your own
• Good knowledge of current affairs and a
  strong news awareness
• Ability to work long and odd hours under
  tight deadlines and to think fast and give clear directions in a fast
  paced environment
• Have a keen eye for detail, thoroughness
  and be meticulous
