/ WaSH Technical Coordinator

assistance to people in distress, victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts
or conditions of extreme exclusion. In Uganda INTERSOS aims at providing
support to South Sudanese Refugees and Ugandan host community, both victims of
the long-lasting Humanitarian Crisis in the Republic of South Sudan, conducting
operation in Refugee Settlements in the North of the Country in line with strategic
priorities and objectives of the Office of Prime Minister (OPM) and in
collaboration with the main donors and stakeholders.
is responsible for all logistic aspects of the base in Arua, including, but not
exclusive to, management of the office and guesthouse, together with management
of support staff (guard and cleaner), procurement, storing and movement of
goods and vehicle fleet. He/she can be asked to perform occasionally also the
role of Driver for field missions within the district of Arua. On the base of
the evaluation of the workload, he/she can be asked to support occasionally
also the base in Kampala.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and plan logistic and operational
needs for office and guesthouse in Arua; - The jobholder will also take care of the
maintenance and daily management of office and guesthouse, including
office spaces and guest house booking; - Create a pre-qualified list of suppliers
for main services and items; - Be responsible for the management and
implementation of procurements procedures to purchase goods, works and
services and supervise and control all goods movements. In particular: - Verify that all the logistic
components/resources are appropriate and coherent with the operations
objectives and the country standards; - Upon prior authorization by
the Head of Mission / WaSH Technical Coordinator, he/she manages
relations with local suppliers, payments, delivery of goods and custom
clearance and transport of goods, controls that all procedures and custom
formalities are respected and guarantees that all necessary documentation
is prepared and filed in properly; - Organize, manage and control
the warehouses and all related documentation concerning the movements of
goods (in/out registers, stock control, etc.) - Work closely with the Head of Mission /
WaSH Technical Coordinator to define necessary purchases and procedures to
adopt in order to implement activities of ongoing projects; - Be responsible of purchases and their
timely delivery in order to implement activities of ongoing projects; - Create and update inventory lists as per
INTERSOS guidelines, adopting INTERSOS tools; - Manage, make the best use and keep
functional the equipment purchased: tools, furniture, technical items(ex. Computers and copy
machines) and communication items (ex. telephones, fax and radio); - Assist the Head of Mission / WaSHTechnical
Coordinator in the recruitment of support staff (guard and cleaner); - Organize support staff’ daily work and
supervise it; - Manage the fleet of vehicles: rental
contracts, custom clearance, custom duty-free procedures, logbooks, and
registration, insurance, maintenance and daily movements. - Support national and international staff
and guests for logistic needs; - Perform the role of Driver when requested
by the Head of Mission / WaSH Technical Coordinator. - Take part in Logistic coordination
meetings at Arua level and keep contact with homologues of other
organizations; - Represent the Organization in coordination
meetings when requested by the Head of Mission / WaSH Technical
Coordinator; - Participate in field assessments and
visits when requested by the Head of Mission / WaSH Technical Coordinator.
- Keep update the Head of Mission / WaSH
Technical Coordinator about the security situation at Arua district level; - Perform any other duty as per specific
request of the Head of Mission / WaSH Technical Coordinator.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Logistic and Procurement or any other relevant Degree
coupled with relevant trainings in the same field. - At least three years of related experience
as Logistician, preferably for Local and/or International Non-Governmental
Organization in Arua District; - Previous experience in WaSH and Health
projects is a valuable asset; - Knowledge: Good knowledge of Microsoft
Office, especially Excel and Word. - Competences: Organize; flexibility;
adequate capacity to manage and supervise staff. - Possess a clean and valid Driving license:
Class DL – Compulsory - Language: Good knowledge of
written and speaking English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Arua
district is an asset.
