Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC)
Northern, Eastern and Western, Uganda
research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including
Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 150 publications
and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC
currently manages over 41 grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was
established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University
College of health sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the
Uganda Ministry of health.
Responsibilities:
- Offer technical support, to staff in
malaria reference centers in regard to malaria surveillance including use
of OPD registers, on site data training and report generation - Work as a liaison contact between IDRC and
the District Health Teams (DHTs) - Work in liaison with the DHT to ensure
that there is effective supervision of surveillance work at the health
centers and reports are submitted on time. - Work with the DHT and the MRC in-charges
to ensure that data use meetings are regularly held at the district and
the MRCs. - Ensure that malaria normal channel charts
are regularly updated - Build and maintain effective relationships
with the administration and staff of the Malaria Reference Centers (MRCs). - Ensure uninterrupted supply of the
register and other essential supplies at the sites - Mentor and transmit clean data from MRCs
to the designate person at the Kampala office - Ensure HMIS Forms 033b and HMIS Forms 105
are generated and sent to the district health office and Resource Centre,
MOH in a timely manner
- Ensuring that data use meetings are held
at the district health office and at MRCs. - Supervision of real time data entry at the
MRCs by Health Information Assistants and timely submission to the
District biostatistician and the IDRC head office - Coordination of Site support (registers
& other supplies) - Supervision of malaria reference centre
staff and activities
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and or Statistics. - Extensive knowledge of Database management
systems and or MS Access and SQL - At least two years’ experience working
with District Health Teams or health systems - Knowledge of HMIS is an added advantage
- Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills. - Team building and networking skills
- Ability to ride a motorbike and must have
a valid riding licence - Integrity and ability to develop a
productive working relationship with District Health Teams. - Ability to operate in a fast and diverse
environment
