Job Summary: The Systems
Administrator will take PSI to the next level, ensuring that PSI staff are able
to utilize the latest computer technology in our daily work, reduce the burden
of manual administrative functions and provide security to our donors that we
are effectively managing the funds entrusted to us. The incumbent will manage
an IT support desk officer and liaise with PSI business systems contractors to
ensure continuous and effective operations.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Provide technical support for Implementation of PSI’s Business Systems:
  • Work closely with end users to define
    requirements for system development and develop an implementation
    blueprint based on organizational standards.
  • Oversight and use of current business
    systems, ensuring the business systems are used throughout the
    organization.
  • Tasked with the coordination of new
    Business Systems development, including collaboration with hired
    developers configuration of datasets and programs, development of
    analytics, dashboards and reports, setting up security and user roles,
  • Provide project management support for
    business systems implementation to ensure implementation by
    developers/consultants is delivered within required timelines.
  • Manage communication and expectations
    throughout the development process.
  • Manage the user experience testing
    processes and ensure feedback from users in incorporated into system
    development.
Provide system administration support Working with the IT
Support Desk officer:
  • Set-up and maintain user accounts,
    organization units & groups.
  • Train end users on the use of business
    systems, including data capture features, processes, development of
    training curricula and job aids, and system administration tasks.
  • Provide help-desk support by responding to
    and resolving support tickets within the required timelines.
  • Offer technical support for both hardware
    and software issues our users encounter.
  • Manage the configuration and operation of
    client-based computer operating systems.
  • Manage Business systems installation and
    configuration procedures.
  • Install and test computer-related
    equipment.
Ensure Safe Business Systems Operations: Working with the IT
Support Desk officer:
  • Manage and update administrate
    infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection
    software and other processes.
  • Keenly monitor the system daily and
    respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
  • Create and verify backups of data.
  • Upgrade systems and processes as required
    for enhanced functionality and security issue  resolution.
  • Review application logs.
  • Actively contribute to and maintain system
    standards.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the PACE Systems
    Administrator job placement must hold an undergraduate degree in Computer
    Science, Information Technology, Informatics, or a related field.
  • Professional CCNA or MCSA certification.
  • At least three years of related work
    experience working
  • Previous experience with one or more
    general purpose programming languages including but not limited to,
    Python, Javascript, JQuery, php.
  • Previous experience with using Business
    Intelligence solutions e.g. Crystal reports, Power BI.
  • The incumbent should be proficient in all
    aspects of the configuration and maintenance of IT and computer business
    systems.
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting
    skills
  • Ability to implement creative solutions to
    business’s pain points
  • The incumbent should be conversant with
    the latest trends and knowledge of hardware and software advancements
  • You can construct SQL queries and have
    experience in querying and injecting data ( Using json or xml) to
    databases via the API.
  • Excellent training and presentation skills
  • References and a technical test of
    knowledge and skills will be required.
  • The applicant should have authorization to
    work in Uganda.
  • Previous experience working with M&E
    systems for a wide variety of public health programming, including HIV,
    family planning, malaria, or child survival programs.
  • Prior experience in capacity building or
    training, especially structured long-term capacity building activities.
  • Experienced manager and big picture
    thinker:
    You have experience in managing large business and/or
    M&E systems. You are able to ensure Senior Management Team and Board
    commitment to, and engagement with the IT strategy, and decision making.
  • Capacity Builder: You have
    experience in capacity building or training, especially structured
    long-term capacity building activities.
  • Team player: You have proven
    your ability to work in inter disciplinary teams that are at times located
    in different parts of the country.
  • A Connector: You have shown to
    be able to build capacity on IT technology while taking into account the
    specific needs of the user, helping them solve their business problems
    through meaningful engagement with outside vendors and business systems.

    drive a sense of empowerment and a comfort with changing the status quo,
    to take the step and own the outcome. You are able to challenge the things
