strengthening project in West Nile with a similar intervention already running
in Karamoja in partnership with UNICEF. The purpose of the project is to
support the district health systems in service planning, implementation,
support supervision, quality improvement and information management and
reporting leading to sustainable increase in access to health services
especially maternal, neonatal, adolescent, nutrition and EMTCT services and
stronger district health systems. The project will focus on strategies and
delivery platforms that have potential to reach the most vulnerable children in
both host communities and refugee settlements. Districts with refugees will
receive support in line with the Refugee and Host Population Empowerment
(ReHoPE) strategy, in order to deliver government-led, multi sector actions
directed to both host communities and refugees.
Coordinator will be supervising the work of the district team leaders
(technically and administratively), ensure appropriate activity planning,
implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Interface with district leadership
and other implementing partners in the region to identify synergies and gaps
that may need to be addressed further.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, motivate and appraise project
staff. Identify implementation challenges both programmatic and administrative
and rectify or bring them to the attention of the country representative. - Ensure high quality and timely reporting
of project activities. - Keenly monitor and notify any sudden
changes in the region that may affect service delivery for host and refugee
populations
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Project Coordinator job
opportunity should possess a Medical/Health degree with Master in Public
health or International health or Health Services Management or
equivalents. - Previous experience in district health
management, programming for health projects and knowledge of the current
Uganda health policies and strategies and structures. - Ability to write and communicate clearly
and train junior staff; - Proven quantitative skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates who
can demonstrate that they have sound experience working in the region
and/or in a closely related project - Demonstrated ability to work in difficult
environments of scarcity and with minimum supervision.
