With its projects in development cooperation, it works in the areas of food
security, water, climate protection, disaster prevention and migration as well
as education for children and adults. It provides emergency relief in disasters
and is actively involved in reconstruction work.
targets vulnerable groups, namely youth (adolescent mothers, vulnerable girls,
and young prisoners), women and extremely poor community members, with a
regional focus particularly but not exclusively on the greater north of Uganda.
In its 2017-2020 strategy, Caritas Switzerland will concentrate its efforts on
the thematic fields of Education and Income, and Food Security and Markets.
Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Country Director and Partners in
implementing Caritas Switzerland’s (CACH) mission and vision in Uganda. This includes building the capacity of
partners so that their impact is maximised and ensuring effectiveness &
efficiency of interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Country Director in designing
and managing an impactful portfolio of projects; incorporating learning
from previous projects and ensuring that work can be sustained after the
exit of CACH - Oversee the development and implementation
of a capacity building plan for each partner; aiming to ensure that their
work will a) have enhanced impact and quality and b) continue successfully
after CACH exit - Significantly contribute to the
mobilization and effective management of financial resources for the
program; ensuring that funds are utilized ethically and in line with donor
requirements - Build and maintain a network of strategic
contacts with strong internal and external relationships that support
achievement of shared goals - In collaboration with CACH’s
communications department, lead the development and implementation of a
communications plan for the Uganda Program - Deputize for the Country Director in
managing the CACH Uganda Country Office
Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Degree in
a relevant subject - Possession of a Post graduate study in
development or business management field - At least four to eight years of post
graduate experience in senior management role - Considerable program / project planning
and management - Demonstrated experience and ability to
network, develop and sustain strategic partnerships - Significant experience in managing and
facilitating partner capacity needs analysis including successfully
facilitating and managing capacity enhancement strategies for implementing
partners - Demonstrable, strong and relevant
experience in communication skills including writing winning proposals –
experience with EU is an added advantage - Demonstrated experience in developing and
implementing a communication strategy - Demonstrated skills and experience in
using new media (social media) to cause mind-set change - Demonstrated experience in data and
information quality management techniques - Demonstrated leadership skills in leading
and directing teams, including consultants - Experience working within a cross cultural
/ multi-cultural environment; experience in meeting international donor
standards is essential
