The Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) was founded in 1957 as a

Incorporation Act (CAP 165) as Registered Trustees of the Uganda Protestant
Medical Bureau. UPMB brings together Protestant Churches in Uganda involved in
Provision of Health Services. It serves as a link between Government and / or
Development Partners and UPMB-Member Institutions and provides support to its
members through capacity strengthening, coordination, lobbying and Advocacy,
public relations and translation of government policies.

Job Summary: The
Organizational Development Manager will offer technical advice and guidance to
Governance and Management structures of Hospitals and Health Facilities of the
UPMB network.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Offer professional technical advice to
UPMB management in emerging issues relating to the governance, policy
development and implementation - Work closely with the ED to support the
secretariat and MHFs on governance issues concerning auditors, lawyers,
tax advisers, bankers and other corporate bodies. - Work in liaison with the ED and the Board
to develop, review and administer corporate policies and policy manuals
intended to keep UPMB and MHFS current with governance best practices - Provide initiative, innovative thinking
and strategic direction that will assist Dioceses and hospitals to best
manage its resources. - Advise and ensure that UPMB MHFs’
compliance obligations under national relevant laws and the requirements
of regulatory authorities are met - Provide day today professional advice and
guidance to the Management Team on the legislation, awards and agreements. - Make sure that UPMB Network organizational
policies, practices and procedures are developed, implemented and maintained
ensuring legal compliance with Government of Uganda Laws and the UPMB
Values. - Formulate and implement an organizational
governance training strategy for hospitals and lower level facilities
encompassing, corporate planning and risk management
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
an Advanced Degree in MBA, Public Health, Health Service Management, or
related fields; Skills in organizational development and change management
are essential. - First degree in Medicine/ Law/ Nursing
- At least five years of mid-level or senior
management experience in health related institutions and/or programs, - Possess competencies in areas of Policy
and Governance Development, Advocacy, Strategic Thinking. - Demonstrate a clear understanding of the
Protestants Church’s structures, organization and values. - A thorough understanding of Health NGO
work - Broad knowledge of National NGO and
corporate governance laws - Demonstration of “presence” and
excellent communication skills in English - Broad knowledge and understanding of
strategy and a proven ability to think strategically at the macro level - Ability to mediate and assist in achieving
consensus - Skills in writing training and public
speaking
