Finance Institution (DFI) established in 1972. The Bank has recently
re-positioned itself as a partner to the Government of Uganda in delivering the
theme of its National Development Plan.
Investment Specialist will mainly provide consultation to management on Equity
investment decisions. The incumbent will promote/mobilize Equity business,
analyze and/or appraise equity funding proposals as well as monitor such
businesses in the Bank’s portfolio, with the view of ensuring sustainable
equity financing.
Responsibilities:
- Setup of investment policies and
procedures in line with UDBL’s institutional and policy framework - Regularly source for new sources of
capital to support UDBL’s equity investment strategy and objectives
Support the DDF in ongoing decision making and in determining strategic
direction of the Equity portfolio - Support DDF in developing and implementing
the annual business plan for equity investments; - Actively participate in marketing UDBL’s
equity product to external stakeholders; Regularly refine and update
UDBL’s equity products in line with changing economic conditions and
market expectations to ensure continued relevance and sustainability of
the bank’s products Take part in promoting synergies and/or co-financing
with other bank products - Ensure a high quality, robust equity
investment pipeline, in line with UDBL’s strategic objectives and mandate; - Oversee the appraisal of equity-funding
proposals with the view of ensuring that ail related decisions are
grounded on sound technical advice and on equity-financing best practices; - Research, collate and analyze market
information to support the DDF and other stakeholders to make effective
and profitable investment decisions; - Periodically review the Bank’s equity
portfolio with the view of ensuring that the Bank’s investments are
sustainable. - Oversee any necessary rebalancing of
UDBL’s equity portfolio Advise management on exit strategies
- Annual and ongoing performance of UDBL’s
equity portfolio (stipulated risk-adjusted return as measured against
UDBL’s hurdle rate) - Quality of the equity portfolio and
performance of underlying companies - Net value of equity portfolio
- Number of clients in which bank has equity
interest
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a good first or
advanced degree from a reputable education institution, with a bias in
finance, business studies, economics, statistics, applied mathematics,
accounting or a related field is required. - Full or part CFA and/or similar
qualification is desirable - At least five years of finance/investment
background with working experience in capital markets, equity investments
or related fields in reputable institutions - Solid Governance experience/experience on
Board of Directors - Highly Analytical and problem solving
skills - Strong affinity for numbers / numerical
proficiency - Mastery of contemporary financial modeling
- Excellent report writing and communication
skills - Extensive knowledge of national and
regional business and economic trends - Sound Commercial awareness and Business
acumen - Ability to manage/work with
multidisciplinary teams - Knowledge of law relating to contracting
and company law - Excellent interpersonal skills
