Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF)

working in 15 countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the
transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today,
because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over
the last 25 years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United
States and new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF
Uganda Country program is currently implementing a number of projects in partnership with
various donors.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the creation and
enforcement of policies for effective data management. - Participate in the formulation of
techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and
legitimacy of data. - Devise and implement efficient and secure
procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical
aspects - Take part in the establishment of the
rules and procedures for data sharing with program team and external
stakeholders etc. - Assist with reports and data extraction
when needed from the integrated database. - Monitor and analyze information and data
systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them
(new technologies, upgrades etc). - Ensure digital databases and archives are
protected from security breaches and data losses. - Troubleshoot data-related problems and
authorize maintenance or modifications. - Actively participates in the review of the
data management plan, maintains the data management plan throughout
lifecycle of projects and ensures data management plan is followed
according to EGPAF data requirements/needs. - Ensure timely data transfer from various
external data and internal platforms into the Foundation’s integrated
database . - Assist in defining and/or create data
listings, summary table validation, data specifications and/or process
data transfers in preparation for statistical review and/or data
management audit. - Coordinate the archiving of databases and
related documents. - Regularly responds to requests for
standard and ad hoc data reports as required in a timely manner. - Participates in the preparation and
presentation of data, when applicable. Alongside the DBT based Strategic
Information & Evaluation Officers, facilitate site level data quality
assessment, auditing and verification for improvement.
Experience:
- The applicant for the EGPAF Data Entry
Officer career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s (honors) degree in
health informatics, statistics or demography or population studies,
epidemiology, and a formal qualification in data management - At least three years of experience in
designing data bases, data management and implementation of monitoring,
evaluation for donor funded programs. - Extensive knowledge of common Statistical
analysis and database management packages MS Office Epi-DATA, GIS, MYSQL. - Hands-on experience in working with
routine health information systems at the facility, district . - Thorough familiarity with the Uganda MOH
HMIS systems. - Ability to work independently with minimal
supervision. - Ability to fully grasp the complexity of
data management. - The candidate will have a strong
understanding of databases and data analysis procedures. - Tech-savvy and possess excellent
troubleshooting skills. - Good analytical thinking and ability to
interpret public health and epidemiological data. - Ability to work under pressure.
