- Purchase goods, equipment, materials
and/or other supplies for the construction activities - The incumbent will evaluate and make
decisions on prices, deliver, terms and sources of supply in accordance
with the project specifications - Negotiate pricing contracts with
subcontractors and suppliers - Issue purchase orders for procurement and
expedition of materials and equipment for jobs - Ensure compliance to project budgets and
provide analysis of deviations - Research new materials for design and cost
savings - Formulate and implement new purchasing
strategies to deliver ongoing cost reductions and process simplification - Build and maintain relationships with
subcontractors and suppliers - Establish and maintain new relationships
with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate resources for all
projects and to continually improve pricing and quality of work - Ensure quality control of construction
materials - Forecast upcoming demand
- Maintain supplier information on company
supplier database - Manage materials/equipment inventory
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Buyer job
placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or
Mechanical Engineering or any related field - At least five years of working experience in
construction as well as buying experience - Must have own vehicle (pickup) and be
prepared to travel - Excellent communication skills with
subcontractors, suppliers and clients - Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent problem solving abilities and
experience with complex transactions with little supervision - Excellent computer skills
