Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth (SOCY) Project

implementing projects in the Greater Masaka region and in the districts of
Kyenjojo, Kasese and Kamwenge.
for Children and Youth (SOCY) project targeting Orphans and Vulnerable Children
in Kasese, Kyenjojo and Kamwenge districst, funded by the United States Agency
for International Development (USAID) through Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
The SOCY project interventions shall be focusing primarily on OVC Case
Management and household economic strengthening through savings groups and
associated interventions and parenting/caregiver programs.
Assistant will primarily safeguard the assets (financial and physical) of RTY
and ultimately the donors against fraud, loss or misuse and ensure proper
documentation and processing of the finances of the organization. The incumbent
will be responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger Accounts
and financial transactions of the organization that shall include analytical
work and thorough review of financial records for SOCY project and carry-out
the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations for SOCY project.
Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will prepare cash books
(manual and computerized) - Conduct timely bank reconciliations for
Kasese, Kamwenge and Kyenjojo field offices - Conduct periodic stock taking, prepare and
submit monthly Liquidation reports and advance request to the Accountant - Tasked with ensuring timely disbursement
of payments to creditors in Kasese, Kamwenge & Kyenjojo - The jobholder will also prepare income and
expenditure statements as and when necessary, produce timely accounting reports
in liaison with the Accountant - Maintain up-to-date financial and assets
records.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the USAID Project
Accounts Assistant job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Accounting or Finance. A relevant post graduate qualification in
finance is an added advantage. Professional course in CPA or ACCA, at
least Level 2 will be an added advantage - At least three years of cumulative working
experience in a similar position in a reputable organization, preferably
an NGO. - Special Knowledge in finance and
accounting software i.e. Microsoft office packages, timely filing of
records under secure environment. - Skills in Cash management, Accounting,
Budgeting, Analytical and Negotiation and Motorcycle riding skills.
