URC manages projects in over 45 countries, including the United States.
Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in East Central Uganda Project
(USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) whose aim is to support the implementation of a
comprehensive integrated investment in regional
health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The five-year
project targets 11 districts in East Central Uganda with an estimated total
population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of
quality health, nutrition, HIV / AIDS and childe development services.
Officer – HIV Prevention will support the scale-up of quality HIV prevention
services, focusing on Priority and Key populations in selected communities
across 10 districts through targeted outreaches and leveraging efforts of
various structures at district, sub-county and community levels.
Responsibilities:
- Work in liaison with supervisor and rest
of project team to design a structured approach to provision of HIV
prevention services to tailored to various groups of key and priority
populations; - Build the capacity of relevant community
structures and resource persons to support delivery of HIV prevention
services; - Provide support in the delivery of HIV
prevention services to key and priority and other populations in
communities and at facility level, including targeted outreaches aimed at
Index client testing, partner testing, social network testing, mobile
testing in hotspots for Key Populations; - Coordinate delivery of HIV prevention
services, documentation and data capture and reporting; - Ensure that all individuals accessing HIV
prevention and testing services are linked to appropriate services.
Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID RHITES-EC
Program Officer – HIV Prevention job opportunity must hold a Diploma in
Nursing/Midwifery with additional training in counseling; - A minimum of three years’ experience in a
similar responsibility in a busy setting. - Extensive knowledge of current national
HIV prevention, care and treatment guidelines for Uganda; - Excellent communication or interpersonal
skills is desirable; - Ability and willingness to travel within
the supported districts and communities.
