pediatric HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment
programs. We are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS,
working in 15 countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the
transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today,
because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over
the last 25 years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United
States and new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF
Uganda Country program is currently implementing a number of projects in
partnership with various donors.
Assistant will work closely with the Study Coordinator and the SOAR Uganda team
on IPAC study. The incumbent collects and processes research data in support of
the IPAC study. He/she arranges and conducts field interviews as appropriate to
the study, and records research data in accordance with specified protocol and
procedures at the study sites.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to field sites to collect and
record data as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study. - Work in liaison with health care workers
at the sites to identify potential study participants, assess eligibility
and recruit them. - Carry out informed consent processes with
potential participants according to the study procedures. - Carries our research interviews and enters
study data into the electronic data capture system. - Develop interview schedules; identify
potential subjects, arrange and conduct interviews in accordance with
predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures, and
documentation standards. As appropriate to the specified position, code
and verify data in accordance with the IPAC standard operating procedures,
and enter data into the data collection paper tools. - The Research Assistant will also ensure
that data collected are accurate, complete, properly handled and stored in
accordance with study SOPs and confidentiality stipulations. - Obtains study informed consent and enrolls
study participants. - Complies with protocols, ethics and
regulations and adheres to good research practices.
Experience:
- The applicant for the EGPAF Research
Assistant career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics,
Population Studies Demography, Epidemiology and other related disciplines,
including Social Sciences and Public Health. - Prior experience in conducting research
i.e. data collection and recording and conducting interviews - Broad knowledge of MOH facility data
collection registers and HMIS tools. - Knowledge of and prior training in
protection of human subjects in research and ethics regulations to ensure
compliance with all focal and international requirements. - Ability to understand and apply specified
field and/or laboratory research procedures and protocols. - Excellent in speaking, reading and writing
the following languages: English and Runyakitara. Able to work in south
west Uganda
