Families Against HIV/AIDS (PREFA)

Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was formed to contribute to Uganda’s
efforts in enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment,
and support services to families with a historical focus on Elimination of
Mother-to-Child Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV.
Assistant will support the finance function for the smooth operation of PREFA’s
programs activities
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder will support field program
staff in following up accountabilities and analysing them to ensure value
for money. - Quickly respond to internal audit queries
raised in relation to partner advances and provide feedback in a timely
manner. - Review and organise accountabilities, pass
the necessary journals and forward them to the supervisor for approval. - Prepare and submit a weekly staff and
partner advance status report that recognizes funds advanced, accounted
and outstanding. - Initiate payment vouchers in a timely
manner to facilitate processing of payments. - Assist finance staff in proper filing of
documents in both soft and hard copies.
- Cross check all expenditure requests to
certify their genuineness, review all project payments and assist in
preparation of cheques and EFT’s. - Assist in the preparation of audits.
- Posting expenditure vouchers in QuickBooks
and forwarding them to accountant for review. - Tasked with the preparation of bank reconciliation
statements and reconciling advances and supplier ledgers. - Support the supervisor in preparing draft
financial reports. - Support in Monthly stock taking.
- Perform any other duties that may arise in
department.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the PREFA Accounts Assistant job placement should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized University - Full professional membership will be an
added advantage. - At least three years’ experience in
similar position. - Previous experience with grant management of CDC, DFID and USAID funds will be an added advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of computerized
accounting preferably QuickBooks. - Good analytical skills, able to pay
attention to detail, Computers skills and good communication skills.
