Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in the South West Uganda Project
(RHITES)

pediatric HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment
programs. We are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS,
working in 15 countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the
transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today,
because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over
the last 25 years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United
States and new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF
Uganda Country program is currently implementing a number of projects in
partnership with various donors.
USAID Regional Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in the South West
Uganda Project (RHITES) whose aim is to increase the availability,
accessibility and quality of integrated health services including HIV and TB
prevention, care and treatment; maternal, neonatal and child health services;
family planning; nutrition assessment, counseling support; malaria prevention
and treatment and other primary care services.
Officer will participate in clinical management of HIV, TB and related diseases
in adults and children at the selected health facility within Mbarara district.
Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will provide technical
support to the HIV clinic and general health facility staff to adhere to
national standards and guidelines in the management HIV/AIDS and TB
clients. - Treat and ensure proper management of
patients. Screen for and refer complicated cases to the supervisor in a
timely way. - Work closely with other cadre in the
health facility in the delivery of quality health care in the facility
especially in the promotion of identified task shifting approaches to care
and treatment of patients. - Actively participate in the implementation
of PHC activities and other MNCH, FP, TB, HIV and OPD services. - Adhere to the professional code of conduct
and ethics. Participate in the collection of health data especially the
updating of key primary data collection tools as part of integrated
services. These include: MCH registers, OPD, TB register, HCT register and
other client records. - Actively participate in adopting the
quality improvement approaches to improve the overall quality of HIV care
and treatment, and enhance client outcomes. Conduct CMEs as part of
mentoring junior staff. - Actively participate in the provision of
information/education to the public as part of health promotion
Experience:
- The applicant for the USAID EGPAF RHITES
Project Clinical Officer job opportunity should hold a Diploma in clinical
medicine and community health or its equivalent from a recognized
institution. - The applicant must also hold a current updated registration with the
Allied Health Professionals Council. Hold a valid annual practicing
license with a minimum of two years hands on experience in clinical management
of HIV, TB and related diseases in adults and children. - Broad knowledge of clinical issues and
current literature related to prevention, care and treatment of HIV, TB
and other related conditions in adults and children. - Knowledge of quality improvement
approaches and its application in HIV settings. - The candidate will be expected to work
within the work schedule of the Uganda Health system including special
calls like evening, night or weekend duties.
