Nutrition & Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to
Access Markets. WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Job Summary: The Logistics
Assistant Contracting will take responsibility for completion of a range of
processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard
guidelines/practices for all assistance modalities for both WFP and logistics
common services. The Job holder is able to recommend a course of action to
staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. The
incumbent will provide support to the airdrop operations and to manage the
warehouses at Kisubi and Entebbe airport.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Ensure accurate daily and weekly reports
    on food and NFIs are shared and ensure that internal control systems are
    functioning and that all relevant records are maintained;
  • The jobholder will oversee the shunting of
    food from the Kisubi warehouse to the Airport and report timely any
    anomaly encountered from/by transporters in the delivery of cargo from the
    CDPs to the Entebbe warehouses.
  • The incumbent will also ensure utilization
    of WFP documents for all warehouse transactions as per WFP rules and
    regulations (waybills, LTI, stock reports, loss reports etc).
  • Ensure timely input of warehouse
    transactions in to the WFP Corporate food commodity tracking system
    (LESS).
  • Ensure daily and monthly reconciliation of
    stock reports
  • Ensure prompt action in effecting
    segregation of damaged food consignments/stocks and these are stacked
    separately for immediate reconditioning/reconstitution.
  • Carry out regular inspection of
    commodities
  • Ensure timely issuance of warehouse
    working orders and verify corresponding invoices from the service
    provider.
  • Conduct inventory and collate monthly
    inventory reports.
  • Institute loss mitigation measures, loss
    analysis and reporting,
  • Actively participate in training staff
  • Ensure that food and non-food items (NFI)
    are controlled and accounted for according to WFP warehouse procedures.
  • Keenly monitor and supervise the
    activities of security and casual labourers at the Kisubi and Entebbe
    warehouses.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations
    UN World Food Programme (WFP) Logistics Assistant Contracting job
    opportunity should hold a University Degree in either of the following
    fields: Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer Science,
    Statistics or any other related field obtained from a recognized
    Institution Or a Diploma in Accounts, Procurement & Logistics,
    Computer Science, Statistics or any other related field obtained from a
    recognized Institution, coupled with longer relevant working experience;
  • A minimum of four years of relevant
    working experience in a relevant field gained from a reputable
    organization;
  • Prior experience analysing food and
    non-food commodities and drafting reports.
  • Prior experience in providing technical
    business support in corporate systems.
  • Previous exposure and experience using
    corporate systems to monitor ongoing shipments, pipeline information,
    insurance claims, and food stock.
  • Prior experience in analysing data (on
    commodities, funds, etc.) and drafting reports.
  • Previous experience in measuring service
    providers’ performance against set KPIs.
  • Prior exposure and experience in assisting
    the preparation of contract documentation.
  • Previous experience in providing technical
    business support in corporate systems.
  • Excellent command of both written &
    oral English is essential;
