Programmer will provide informatics, system design and programming expertise
for the PSSP II Project in Uganda. The Software Programmer will primarily
responsible for programming an SMS- and web-based commodity ordering system and
integrating the facility level electronic systems with Medical Access Uganda’s
SAP-MIRP system.
Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will link SAP-MIRP to
facility inventory management system for greater visibility and decision
making. - Develop the Web-based Commodity Ordering
System (WCOS) linked to SMS mobile technology to support remote sites
without internet. - Implement software design components
including coding, code documentation, unit testing, debugging, and quality
assurance - Embed an automated alert system in MAUL?s
SAP-MIRP system to alert facilities via email about certain events, such
as inventory that falls below the designated threshold. - Ensure that all software that are
connected to the server are running and maintain a backup copy on daily
basis - The jobholder will also document and
produce user guides, training manuals, documenting software code for other
programmers to follow. - Provide online support (Internet/email
support and save as the help desk to users and staff on the software
troubleshooting and technical expertise. - Writing progress reports on the status of
the developed tools - Develop C#, ASP.Net, XML and code
- Become software expert in Java open source
framework supported by DHIS software stack (PosGre SQL, - Write database scripts, stored procedures
and API application program interfaces - Participate in program evaluation and any
other activities as assigned by M&E Officer - Perform any other responsibilities as
needed
Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent. - A minimum of five years of professional
experience in health informatics and/or software development. - Ability to take direction to iteratively
define and implement solution as requirements are being identified and
finalized. - Hands-on knowledge of Python, Java,
Xforms, LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), and Clojure. - Previous experience with developing API
and web services. - Experience with open source and enterprise
database solutions such as DHIS2, iHRIS, OpenMRS, CommCare, OpenLMIS,
RapidPro, MySQL, Oracle. - Experience developing SMS and/or mobile
applications. - Self-motivated and able to work
independently to solve complex tasks. - Excellent interpersonal, communication,
and teamwork skills.
