Job Summary: The Senior
Compliance Officer wil primarily identify and clarify current internal and
external compliance practices and controls within VISIONFUND UGANDA, diagnose
and propose enhanced policies and procedures to ensure compliance by all staff
with all legal, regulatory, VISIONFUND UGANDA Policies, procedures and manuals,
financial and core operational system requirements.
Compliance Officer wil primarily identify and clarify current internal and
external compliance practices and controls within VISIONFUND UGANDA, diagnose
and propose enhanced policies and procedures to ensure compliance by all staff
with all legal, regulatory, VISIONFUND UGANDA Policies, procedures and manuals,
financial and core operational system requirements.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

- The
jobholder will identify and assess the compliance risks associated with
the current and proposed future business activities, including new
products and new business relationships before their formal undertaking. - Tasked
with the design and update an inventory (available to all staff) of
essential laws, regulations and Bank of Uganda guidelines or any other and
stakeholders that governs the banking business - Centralize
all information on compliance related issues within VISIONFUND
UGANDA for access by all staff. (e.g. breach of regulation, non-respect of
procedures, conflict of interest etc.) - Periodically
educate and train staff or any parties that work closely with VISIONFUND
UGANDA in compliance as well as for orienting new staff on
compliance requirements - Guide
on compliance concerns from staff - Work
closely with relevant internal and external stakeholders to resolve
VISIONFUND UGANDA’s compliance matters - Carry
out compliance checks and present reports to your immediate supervisor - Assess
the appropriateness of internal policies, procedures, processes and
guidelines in relation to the governing laws, Corporate Governance, Code
of Ethics, professional conduct and competition) and make appropriate
recommendations to your Supervisor. - Conduct
follow-up of the resolution of any identified compliance findings,
deficiencies, make recommendations for amendments, where necessary, and
supervise the implementation of corrective measures to mitigate the
identified deficiencies - Send
monthly Compliance reports to your supervisor highlighting the Compliance
status of VISIONFUND UGANDA and areas in need of improvement. - Follow-up
on the resolution findings in departments and branches by Audit both
internal and external, Risk. - Tasked
with the identification, awareness and communication; ensuring that
VISIONFUND UGANDA is aware of current and future regulatory and
legislative developments affecting its business.

- The ideal candidate for the VisionFund
Uganda (VFU) Senior Compliance Officer job opportunity should hold a
Bachelor’s Degree - Professional accounting or audit
qualification (an added advantage) - Possession of a Diploma in Law (an added
advantage) - At least four years’ experience in
managing compliance activities in a regulated financial institution
