About PEAS:
Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS UK) is a UK-based charity
with a mission ‘to unlock the potential of Africa by expanding access to affordable
quality secondary education.’ We run the fastest growing network of sustainably
financed secondary schools in Africa. We currently have a network of 24 schools
across Uganda and Zambia, educating around 8,000 students. PEAS  is supported by major corporate, government
and private funders and our innovative financial model is pioneering in the
field of public private partnerships in development education.
Job Summary:  The Procurement & Logistics Officer will
be tasked with conducting prompt and effective procurement activities with the
highest standards of efficiency and integrity.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Logistics:
  • Manage and coordinate all logistical
    operations including fleet management, procurement and supplies
  • Ensure that the PEAS transport fleet are
    secure, well maintained, safe and fit for travel at all times.
  • Supervise, manage and motivate the
    logistics team, ensuring they have clear job objectives
Vehicle Management and Maintenance:
  • Ensure PEAS vehicle management policies
    and procedures are implemented and followed
  • Manage and coordinate all PEAS vehicle
    deployments to schools (fuel consumption, planning movements, accident
    reports, insurance etc.)
  • Ensure regular maintenance and servicing
    of all PEAS vehicles and ensure an appropriate repair process
  • Ensure that security and safety procedures
    are understood and strictly adhered by all staff and visitors
Procurement Management:
  • Ensure that all procurement is done in an
    appropriate and transparent manner as per PEAS policies, procedures and
    donor requirements
  • Ensure logistics team liaise effectively
    with other departments in proposal development and procurement planning so
    that requests can be anticipated and inputs delivered in a timely manner
  • Assess and obtain the best prices as well
    as quality goods and services
  • Ensure that the monitoring of items
    ordered are updated on a daily basis; establish and maintain an efficient
    and effective information management system Manage supplies and stock
    controls effectively
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supplies Management from a recognized
    institution. Possession of a Masters in a relevant field shall be an added
    advantage.
  • At least four years’ experience in logistics
    and supply chain management relating to these groups
  • Previous experience of logistics,
    procurement, stock control, and distribution of goods Experience of
    vehicle fleet management
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    procurement ethics and donor compliance
  • Previous experience in budget and
    financial management
  • Strong written and oral communication
    skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, and organization
    skills
  • Strong negotiation and problem solving
    skills
  • High level of integrity and independency
  • Ability to guarantee confidentiality of
    vendors/suppliers’ specifications and price quotations.
  • Computer skills in MS Office
