contributing to a process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and
improving the quality of Life of persons, families and communities affected by
HIV infection and disease.
HIV/AIDS epidemic control activities through a Health Systems Strengthening
approach in Soroti Region, covering 8 districts of Soroti, Kaberamaido (Cluster
1), Katakwi, Amuria (Cluster 2), Serere, Kumi, Bukedea and Ngora (Ouster 3). In
addition, TASO will be implementing accelerated HIV/AIDS epidemic control
activities through a Health Systems Strengthening approach in Masaka and
Kalungu districts, as a Sub-recipient under the Masaka Region Rakai Health
Sciences Program (RHSP) Consortium funded by PEPFAR through CDC.
Advocacy Communication & Partnerships will provide strategic, technical and
managerial leadership in the design, development, planning and implementation
of TASO’s advocacy & resource mobilization programs, public relations and
communication strategies to leverage synergies for attainment of the wellbeing
of People Living with HIV and manage the organizational documentation and
Policy relives for a positive image of TASO.
Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership, coordination,
documentation of advocacy & resource mobilisation of programs - Tasked with ensuring that advocacy,
Communication and Public Relations and resource mobilisation strategies
are developed - Ensure public relation and image is built
for TASO - Build and maintain networks with friends
of TASO - Also, the jobholder will initiate and
strengthen partnerships & Linkages - Ensure that TASO Governance and leadership
structures are properly coordinated - Ensure that the TASO best practices and
innovations are developed, documented and publicized. - Ensure that all policies are reviewed and
disseminated
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the CDC Project
Manager Advocacy Communication & Partnerships career placement should
hold a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public policy, Mass
Communication or any related field - Additional Training in the orientation in
HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support - Training in project planning and
management and resource mobilization - Training in advocacy and public policy
formulation - Prior training in public administration
and budget analysis - A minimum of five years of relevant
experience with demonstrated success in advocacy, policy and
communications within the National development community and three years
of senior management experience. - Significant experience with Ugandan and
international- based HIV/AIDS advocacy and policy issues. - Proven leadership skills, with unique
ability to manage staff and communicate effectively. - Demonstrated history of successfully
building critical, long term, engaging relationships with stakeholders and
relevant partners. - Special Knowledge of PLHIV Centred Health
care service delivery - Skilled and knowledgeable in Trends and
developments in HIV/AIDS prevention and Care - Skilled and knowledgeable in TASO’s
mandate, programmes and activities - Working knowledge of human rights
protection and promotion - Skilled and knowledgeable in public policy
formulation and lobbying - Working knowledge of the activities of
other AIDS Support organizations in Uganda - Working knowledge of TASO’s Key partners
and their roles - Working knowledge of National HIV/AIDS
prevention Strategies - Knowledge of HIV/AIDS Policy framework
- Good strategic thinking skills
