Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd is a leading coffee procurement, processing and
marketing company in Uganda. In 2009, the company exported over 510,000 bags of
coffee, each weighing 60 kg. This represented approximately 16% of all the
country’s coffee export that year, totaling 3.2 million bags. The coffee was
sold primarily the European Union, Japan, Australia and South Sudan. The
company also markets directly to the major international coffee roasting
companies
Job Summary: The Logistics
Manager will provide support in a variety of tasks ranging from the development
of timely, cost-effective import and export schemes to the handling of the
technicalities of local and international transportation. There will be a
significant international focus within the job where knowledge of international
commerce, and import/export laws are essential.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The Logistics Manager will handle
    technical details relating to international transportation, such as customs
    regulations and all necessary documentation
  • The jobholder will efficiently evaluate
    the costs of transportation, services and inventory within any budget or
    distribution strategy
  • The Logistics Manager must have broad
    knowledge of national and international import/export legislation and must
    be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in loadings,
    transportation and documentation
  • The jobholder will also build
    relationships with Logistics mediators and work closely with clients to
    ensure efficient coffee movement and delivery
  • Documentation and organisation is
    important for final invoicing and dispatch of documents to Head Office
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree or any relevant qualifications and systems training associated with
    Logistics Management.
  • At least three years’ experience in a
    Logistics management role
  • Highly effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple
    tasks all with an attention to fine detail
  • Good negotiation skills are important
    since national and international communication is a pivotal part of the
    job
  • Highly numeric and be able to demonstrate
    an understanding of basic accountancy to successfully fulfill the role of
    Logistic Manager
  • Computer literacy i.e. proficiency in MS
    Office
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work with others
    as a team
