Laboratory Services Coordinator
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.

Masindi, Buliisa and Kiryandongo.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible
for building laboratory capacity in West Nile for scaling up HIV/AIDS / TB
services in order to achieve the project objectives. - Building
of the capacity of laboratory hubs in West Nile to support the rest of the
laboratories through technical support and mentorship - Provide
technical support and supervision of all health workers offering HIV/AIDS
related laboratory services in supported public facilities in the
West Nile region. - Work
in close collaboration with the District, and the IDI Laboratory services
coordinator, will assist in: - Developing a QA/QA system (internal
quality control system and external quality control system and standard
operating procedures and manuals) in line with MoH guidelines and ensuring
their use in selected facilities - Establishing and monitoring of equipment
Management and Maintenance Systems in target Laboratories - Establishing and monitoring a Supply Chain
Management System and ensure timely ordering of buffer stocks for target
labs - Perform
any other duties as may be assigned by management.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Infectious
Diseases Institute (IDI) Laboratory Services Specialist job opportunity
should preferably hold a bachelor’s
degree in medical lab technology. - Possession
of a post graduate diploma (especially related to management) will
be an added advantage. - A minimum of three years’ experience in laboratory planning, management, and QA/QC.
- Previous
experience in design, development and implementation of lab systems at
different levels in the health services. - Prior
exposure and experience in analysis and reporting of data for programme
decision-making. - Good
report / proposal writing and presentation skills. - Previous
experience in providing technical Assistance to large scale HIV/AIDS HSS
laboratories within MoH structures and systems
