Department HIV prevention Coordinator
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Uganda Districts of Kiboga, Kibaale, Kagadi, Kakumiro, Kyankwanzi, Hoima,
Masindi, Buliisa and Kiryandongo.
provide technical assistance to project and HF staff and DHTs to ensure timely
and quality accelerated HIV/AIDS prevention services especially those targeting
key populations.
Responsibilities:
- The
incumbent will design, monitor and report on key activities related to
HIV/AIDS prevention scale up in West Nile. - Support
mentoring activities for HCWs in relation to HIV /AIDS prevention
services in West Nile especially those targeting key populations. - Support
the roll-out of National HIV treatment guidelines and other related
guidelines in HIV/AIDS prevention services in West Nile especially
those targeting key populations - Provide
on call/distance TA support for the handling of complicated cases. - Support
Quality Assurance of HIV//AIDS prevention services in West Nile especially
those targeting key populations at facilities and recommend corrective
action. - Offer
technical assistance in planning related to HIV/AIDS prevention services
in West Nile especially those targeting key populations.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Infectious
Diseases Institute (IDI) HIV Prevention Technical Officer job opportunity
should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree in any of the following fields; Medicine and Surgery, Social
Sciences, SWASA, Development Studies, Community and Adult Education,
Community Psychology, Guidance and counseling or BSc. Nursing - Evidence
of having attended specialized training in HIV/AIDS - Active
registration with the relevant professional body. - A minimum of three years’ experience in providing technical assistance and
mentorship of HCWs in HIV/AIDS prevention within MoH structures and
systems especially targeting key populations. - Broad
knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS management and prevention. - Good
working knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention programs, strategies, processes
and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate
results of HIV/AIDS programs. - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work
effectively in a team. - Knowledge
of USG programming policies and regulations, MoH and district procedures
and practices.
