Diseases Institute (IDI)
Coordinator
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Uganda Districts of Kiboga, Kibaale, Kagadi, Kakumiro, Kyankwanzi, Hoima,
Masindi, Buliisa and Kiryandongo.
Technical Officer will be tasked with the coordination, implementation, and
ensuring maximum outputs regarding EMTCT/ EID services in the region. This
person will provide technical assistance to the district teams to ensure timely
and quality accelerated EMTCT / EID service delivery.
- The
incumbent will coordinate the implementation of all EMTCT/ EID
activities related to the project in the supported districts. - Provide
oversight for the mentorship of project and health facility teams in
EMTCT/ EID services in line with MoH policies and procedures. - Work
closely with the relevant district personnel to ensure provision of
an integrated information package for improving care for HIV positive
pregnant and lactating mothers. - Support
community demand and community based activities for HIV positive pregnant
and lactating mothers in the supported areas to improve
identification, uptake and retention. - The
jobholder will also strengthen documentation and records management of
pediatric, HIV positive pregnant and lactating mother’s data using
appropriate tools and online systems. - Perform
any other duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Infectious
Diseases Institute (IDI) EMTCT/ EID Technical Officer employment
opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery - Possession
of a post graduate training in Public Health and or pediatrics will be an
added advantage - Specialized
training in HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment will be an added advantage. - Registration
with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council - A minimum of three years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS services within the
government health care setting, and in NGO setting - Previous
exposure and experience providing technical assistance to large scale
HIV/AIDS HSS interventions within MoH structures and systems. - Comprehensive
knowledge and experience in EMTCT/ EID services management. - Excellent
track record of mentoring HCWs in EMTCT / EID service delivery. - Good
working knowledge of EMTCT / EID service programs, strategies, processes
and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate results of
EMTCT / EID service programs. - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work
effectively in a team. - Working
knowledge of USG programming policies and regulations, MoH and district
procedures and practices.
