Materials Development Specialist will guide the development of early grade
supplementary reading materials, support the development of training materials,
and development of project Information Education & Communication (IEC)
materials, including publications
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the National Mentors and
the Education Advisor to coordinate training of teachers in the
development of supplementary reading materials for early grade - Work in liaison with the National Mentors
and the Education Advisor alongside the facilitator of the writing
workshops to provide quality checks and additional guidance on writing
tips for teachers - Coordinate reviews and approvals of the
supplementary reading materials for use in schools with NCDC - Develop project brochures, fliers, posters
for the promotional activities - Review edit and take responsibility for
the design all project materials for publication
- Actively participate in VSO coordinated
activities with other partners/stakeholders - Prepare quarterly work plans, requisitions
and reports as by placement objectives - Attend and participate in quarterly
planning and coordination review meetings coordinated by VSO Prepare for
quarterly placement reviews with the programme manager or officer at
placement location or at VSO quarterly meetings
Experience:
- The applicant for the VSO Education
Materials Development Specialist job opportunity should preferably hold a
degree in Mass Communication, Language specialist or related field - Experience in writing simple stories for
children education purposes - At least five years of relevant experience
- Previous exposure and experience in
graphics designing is desirable - Experience in training professionals
- Good facilitation skills (e.g. workshops)
- Computer literacy skills
- Excellent planning, coordination,
organizational and management competencies. Well developed drive for
results competencies. - Ability to work with minimum supervision
and high levels of government bureaucracy at management level. - Language: Excellent English
language skills essential, especially writing skills.
