non-governmental, not-for-profit grant mechanism, providing support to civil
society organizations to promote human rights, access to justice and social
accountability in Uganda.
Support Officer (Grants) will be charged with operationalizing IDF policies and
procedures in relation to grant management and ensure efficient grant
administration.
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder will prepare the IDF Grant
Transfer Requests - Ensure that the grants recipient meet the Fund’s
contract compliance standards including the overseeing of the
implementation of sanctions imposed on grantees - Support grantees in specific tasks such as
setting up financial systems, carrying out end of project procedures, tax
and statutory obligations, etc. - Ensure safe custody of approved proposals
and consent notes to grant bank accounts - Maintain a data base of funding status
with approved grantees - Guide the approving committees on
organization capacities for funding to potential grantees - Review and analyse audit reports from
grantees - Maintain records related to IDF grantee
request for funds in an up to date manner - Conduct any other duty assigned to by the
immediate supervisor.
- Grantee compliance with IDF Statutory obligations
- Funds disbursed to grantees on a timely
basis - Keeping a track record of outstanding
grantee issues for IDF follow up - Timely submission of reports
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree specializing in Accounting - Partial or full professional qualification
of ACCA, CPA or its equivalent will be an advantage. - A minimum of three years’ experience involvement
in grants making or project management, with at least one year based in
Uganda - Knowledge of basic accounting, budgeting,
audit, and organizational structures and strategy - Knowledge of human rights based community
development approaches/ understanding of development issues in Uganda and
of Civil Society dynamics will be an added advantage - Grant management skills
- Accounting skills
- Analysis, judgment and decision making
- Ability to work independently with minimum
supervision
