About URBRA:
The Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority manages retirement
plans for Uganda’s public workforce by serving as the fiduciary stewards of the
contributions and disbursements of the pension trust funds. In partnership with
the state’s public employers, we help ensure that they can offer their
employees a comprehensive retirement plan that is responsive to their needs and
is equitable to all stakeholders. URBA’s primary mandates include;
plans for Uganda’s public workforce by serving as the fiduciary stewards of the
contributions and disbursements of the pension trust funds. In partnership with
the state’s public employers, we help ensure that they can offer their
employees a comprehensive retirement plan that is responsive to their needs and
is equitable to all stakeholders. URBA’s primary mandates include;
- Regulate the establishment, management and
operation of retirement benefits schemes in Uganda in both private and
public sector - Supervise institutions which provide
retirement benefits products and services - Protect the interest of member and beneficiaries
of retirement benefits schemes - Promote the development of the retirement
benefits sector - Provide for licensing for custodians,
trustees, administration and fund managers of retirement benefits schemes,
the appointment of inspectors and interim administrators.
Job Summary: The
Communication and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for developing and
implementing communication strategies aimed at promoting and enhancing URBRA’s
image in order to create good will and build international credibility. The
incumbent will also be responsible for organizing media events, conferences and
exhibitions as well as participating in campaigns aimed at creating public
awareness of the role played by URBRA in the socio-economic development of the
country.
Communication and Public Affairs Officer is responsible for developing and

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement communication
strategies aimed at advancing the mission and objectives of URBRA through
focused public relations programs; - Maintain regular contact with media
representatives and stakeholders to promoted good public relations for
URBRA. - Regularly monitor publicity and conduct
research to find out the concerns and expectations of URBRA’s
stakeholders. - Promptly respond to enquiries from media,
individuals and other stakeholders and the general public - Write speeches as may be required by the
Executive Office from time to time - The incumbent will gather information,
write articles and edit newsletters, reports, journals and other publicity
materials including posters, fact sheets, speeches, brochures, internet
web pages and other publications for internal and external audiences - Research, write and distribute press
releases to targeted media - Prepare the production of publicity
brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos,
photographs, films and multimedia programmes; - Organize events including press
conferences, workshops, public lectures, exhibitions, open days and press
tours; - Update information on the Authority’s
website; - Foster community relations through events
such as Corporate Social Responsibility events and open days
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Communication
and Public Affairs Officer job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree
(minimum second class honors upper division) in Mass Communications,
Journalism, Marketing or equivalent qualifications from a recognized
university - Possession of a Master’s degree in Mass
Communications, Journalism, Marketing or equivalent qualifications will be
an added advantage - At least three years of relevant
experience in developing and implementing corporate communications
programmes in a busy organization preferably in the financial sector.
