About Us:
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd was incorporated in March
2001 under the Companies Act, 2012 on the basis of the Public Enterprises
Reform and Divestiture Act, Cap 98 and Electricity Act, Cap 145 respectively.
UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda. UEGCL’s key
role is to – carry on the business of electric power generation and sale within
Uganda or for export to neighbouring countries; build, operate and maintain
Electricity Generation Plants; monitor the operation and maintenance of its
Concessioned Assets – Nalubaale and Kiira Power Stations; provide Technical
Support as and when required by the Government of the Republic of Uganda
through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development; organize, support,
encourage and maintain training facilities in technical and related fields,
amongst others.

Job Summary: The Audit &
Compliance Manager will provide Independent assurance that UEGCL’s risk
management, control and governance processes are operating effectively to
support the achievement of Company goals.

support the achievement of Company goals.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder will also prepare and
effectively implement audit plans and programs in support of company
goals. - Tasked with the critical review of the
adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and recommending necessary
improvements. - Conduct special audit investigations in
the Company as assigned. - Coordinate the audit of value for money
for projects and assignments undertaken by the Company. - Offer timely support to the Chief Internal
Audit, Risk and Compliance Officer in the preparation and realisation of
the audit plans and preparation/presentation of audit reports. - Manage the audit of accountability of
Company funds. - Develop and implement an appropriate
compliance monitoring framework to ensure compliance with internal
policies, laws and regulations by the Business Units to enable them
achieve compliance in their processes. - Identify compliance gaps and ensure timely
and effective communication to the relevant business process owners. - Institute an appropriate reporting
mechanism and follow up of corrective actions to be taken to ensure their
effective execution. - Perform any other assignments by the Audit
Committee of the Board.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The
applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree [Hons] in a relevant
field such as Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business
Administration. - ACCA,
CIA, CPA, or other Internationally recognized professional accounting
qualification. - Possession
of a Master’s degree in a relevant field. - Full
professional membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors - A
minimum of seven years of relevant internal audit working experience of
which at least 5 has been at a senior level. - Comprehensive
knowledge of the operations and understanding of practices within the
industry - Excellent
interpersonal skills and high level of integrity - High
self-drive and resilience - Strong
analytical and problem solving skills - Keen
attention to detail and highly organized - High
degree of professionalism - Excellent
communication, facilitation and presentation skills - Demonstrated
ability to work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals - Computer
& IT competencies
Age: Above 35 years
