University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP)
profit Company under Makerere University. MJAP works to build partnerships and
strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other
diseases of public health importance in Africa.
Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control
in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In
addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS
Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for
AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Officer will render support to the districts and health facilities to scale-up
provision of VMMC services and reporting of accurate data into the data quality
assurance system, in close collaboration with the VMMC Advisor and will be based in Masaka.
Responsibilities:
- Support the VMMC Advisor in ensuring
smooth and timely implementation of VMMC activities in the supported
districts, by proactively mobilizing, sensitizing and creating client
driven demand for VMMC services and coordinating referrals/linkages to
appropriate service providers. - Actively participate in the training
programs for VMMC service providers - Ensuring Adverse Effects are prevented,
monitored, well managed and reported. - Support on site- coaching of health
workers to follow the acceptable examination guidelines and prescription
of appropriate medications for all diagnosed illness and referrals. - Identify & recommend providers for
training & retraining about VMMC services and men’s reproductive
health activities, including health education, HIV Counseling and Testing,
Circumcision and follow-up’s.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Makerere
University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) VMMC Officer should preferably hold a
Bachelors’ degree in Medicine
or Community Health from a recognized Institution. - A
minimum of three years’ experience in VMMC and delivery of HIV Care and
treatment services - Additional
training in VMMC surgery and the management of HIV/AIDS related
complications. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skills
in client mobilization and health education - Good
counseling and negotiation skills - High
level of confidentiality
