Treatment Advisor

strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other
diseases of public health importance in Africa.
Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control
in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In
addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS
Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for
AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Treatment Officer will work in liaison with the Care & Treatment Advisor
and the DHT counterparts, to provide technical guidance for delivery of Care
& Treatment services in the districts.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support supervision and hands on
mentorship in the areas of PMTC, TB/HIV, Paediatric and adult HIV
treatment. - Work closely with the Care and Treatment
Advisor to identify service provision gaps and recommend appropriate
actions. - Keenly monitor implementation of services
and ensure delivery of quality services. - Assist the DHTs in the capacity building
programs, through mentoring and coaching and CMEs to improve adherence of
patient care and treatment protocols. - Ensure compliance with standard practices
such as; laboratory tests and radiological investigations, monitoring
toxicities; follow up on adherence and treatment response of patients on
ART. - Jointly with DHTs conduct supportive
supervision and monitoring visits to assess the comprehensiveness and quality
of health services provided and recommend improvements.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Makerere
University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Care & Treatment Officer should
preferably hold a Bachelor of
Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution. - Possession
of a Masters’ degree in Public Health or its equivalent is added
advantage - A
minimum of three years’ experience in providing HIV prevention, care,
treatment services and in particular ART in a district setting. - Broad
knowledge of the MOH quality improvement framework and its implementation. - Previous
exposure and experience in CQI is an added advantage - Strong
analytical and team building skills. - Good
report writing skills. - Previous experience in health worker capacity building through trainings
and mentorships is a must. - Dynamic
