strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other
diseases of public health importance in Africa.
Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control
in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In
addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS
Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for
AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Officer will actively support the districts to implement comprehensive HIV
prevention services in the Masaka sub-region and lower community levels.
Responsibilities:
- Support the district to scale up HIV
interventions, targeting key populations (KP) and priority populations
(PP) in the districts. - Offer technical guidance in
developing/reviewing and integrating of KP and PP HIV program strategies
and work plans in the district work plans. - Assist the health workers in the provision
of comprehensive TB/HIV care services as per the MoH guidelines. - Actively participate in coaching and
mentoring programs for supported health facilities and other stakeholders
in HIV prevention, care and treatment strategies for KP and PP. - Support the district to implement
strategies and good practices for HCT service provision in accordance with
the MOH policies and guideline.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Makerere
University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Prevention Officer should preferably
hold a Bachelor of Medicine and
Surgery (MBChB), or medical health related discipline. - Master’s
degree in public health, social science or other relevant field is added
advantage. - A
minimum of three years’ working experience of implementing HIV prevention,
care and treatment particularly for KP/PP programs. - HIV/AIDS
Certificate in counselling for individuals with no counselling experience - Excellent interpersonal and team building skills,
- Ability
to work in a rural setting with district health teams and community
service providers - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills. - Demonstrated
knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs, adherence
approaches and psychosocial support programs.
