strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other
diseases of public health importance in Africa.
Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control
in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In
addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS
Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for
AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Vulnerable Children (OVC) Coordinator will provide technical guidance and
direction for program management and development to strengthen OVC district and
community structures for comprehensive OVC services in line with MGLSD, PEPFAR
and COP guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Offer
technical guidance and coordination of OVC programming and implementation
across the sub-regional level. - Support
districts to develop/review OVC community mobilization and linkages
component for integration into their strategic and operational work plans
and budgets - Support
the district leadership to strengthen OVC community based service delivery - The
incumbent will ensure preparation of appropriate reports and
updates on OVC programmes - Responsible
for quality improvement and effective monitoring and evaluation of OVC
interventions in collaboration with M&E, CQI and District OVC
Coordinators. - Strengthen
and build partnerships with all OVC stakeholders in the sub-region - Keenly
monitor the project achievements against targets using the developed
monitoring and evaluation frameworks. - Manage
the training and mentorship of OVC implementers in the Sub-Region - Coordinate
the OVC meetings to evaluate program performance in the sub –
region. - Keenly
review reports from the district OVC coordinators, sub-grantees and other
project staff before submission to the Program Manager. - Provide
strategic direction in the development, review and implementation
of Sub-Regional annual work plans, budgets and accountabilities - Oversee
reporting through OVCMIS and all other platforms
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Makerere
University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC)
Coordinator should preferably hold a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Health Services, Counseling
Psychology, or related field; - A
minimum of three years’ experience in OVC programming; - Proven
OVC expertise; - Comprehensive
understanding of OVC programing frameworks and MGLSD and PEPFAR policies,
strategies and guidelines - Broad
knowledge of OVCMIS tools and reporting Knowledge and experience of
working with district local government structures - Strong
analytical skills; - Excellent
interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills: ability to effectively
liaise with a variety of stake holders in a multi-cultural environment; - Highly
flexible work attitude; able to provide leadership in a team environment
and solve problems with minimum guidance. - Proven
skills in training, development of training materials, and capacity
building of community based organizations.
