36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern and Central regions of
Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of over 200
persons. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them
fulfil their potential. In 2014, we reached over 143 million children through
our work around 52m directly and 91 million indirectly around the world.
Administrator is mainly responsible for managing the infrastructure and systems
used to support all of Save the Children’s IT environments in Uganda. This
includes providing support on any of the global technologies deployed,
proactively utilising monitoring and capacity planning tools to be aware of any
potential issues and taking remedial action/escalating where necessary, working
on long-term infrastructure improvement projects and helping to grow the
capacity of other IT staff in country. The Systems Administrator may be called
upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of
humanitarian crisis.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Save the
Children International Systems Administrator job placement should
preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Bsc or
related but relevant field and able to demonstrate relevant professional
experience and skills in server and network management - At least five years’ experience as a
system administrator in an enterprise level Microsoft based environment in
a busy IT environment - Previous experience working with Active
Directory implementations - Experience of solving complex issues and
effective troubleshooting - Prior experience with CISCO or any other
recognized networking technologies for data and systems security - Strong results orientation, with the
ability to challenge existing mind sets - Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills - Good service desk management skills
- Kaspersky network security management
- Microsoft windows server administration
and management - Experience in backup management is
mandatory - Past exposure and experience of working
with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights
Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is
an added advantage. - Excellent analytical skills and strategic
planning abilities. - Ability to establish and maintain
conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a
team. - Computer literacy and excellent
documentation skills are a must. - Willingness to travel and work in
hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Highly developed cultural awareness and
ability to work well in an international environment with people from
diverse backgrounds and cultures. - Ability to intervene with crisis
management or troubleshooting as necessary. - Exceptional interpersonal and
communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching. - Excellent time management and planning
capacity. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses.
