About Us:
The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under
Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013
and incorporated under the Company’s Act 2012. It is a limited liability
company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC
is; “To handle the State’s Commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry.”

Job Summary: The Senior
Financial Accountant will maintain an effective business control framework,
generate management, group & statutory accounts and supervise Finance
control activities.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Develop, periodically review, update and ensure
consistent adherence to business internal control policies and procedures
and their effectiveness across me organization. - The incumbent will prepare statutory accounts
for UNOC, Uganda Refinery Holding Company and Uganda Pipeline Company in accordance
with IAS and liaise with external Auditors to ensure submission of
accounts to Revenue Authorities together with Tax self-assessment return
on time. - Co-ordinate and ensure smooth statutory
Audit exercise by providing necessary schedules & reconciliations; contact
with staff required by the Auditors & compilation of management
response to Audit Findings. - Tasked with the tax planning and
management for UNOC and its subsidiaries and manage the relations with
Uganda Revenue Authority - Ensure the integrity of Finance Systems
and chart of accounts through constant review & updates. - In charge of the supervision of payments
processing and controls for suppliers and staff. - Follow-up on Finance control issues raised
in various audits and inspections and ensure agreed action items implemented
on a timely basis. - The jobholder will ensure timely
reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts - Manage month end control processes
- Manage inter-company transactions between
the parent company (UNOC) and its subsidiaries - Ensure that cash calls from Joint Venture
Partners are processed on a timely basis - Prepare consolidated parent company accounts
on a monthly basis - Coordinate year end stock takes and ensure
that it’s witnessed by Auditors - Tasked with the coordination of smooth finance
transactions processing, check for accuracy, and posting on a timely
basis. - Provide guidance, specialist finance
advice, in-depth analysis and support to management on business control principles - Fixed Assets Management (Fixed Assets
register, Depreciation and Work In Progress)
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Economics
or any relevant Degree. - Professional Membership (ACCA, CPA, CMA)
- At least eight to ten years’ experience in
a busy organisation with in-depth knowledge of controls framework and tax
management - Broad knowledge and understanding of IFRS
and any other relevant accounting standards - Knowledge of Uganda tax laws
- Must also demonstrate exceptionally strong
analytical skills, having an ability to analyse, refine, summarize, and
clearly present data and information. - Broad knowledge and understanding of Joint
Venture Operations and accounting - Excellent IT skills with a good
understanding of MS applications - Knowledge of consolidations for Parent and
subsidiaries and inter-company accounting - Knowledge Integrated Planning and
budgeting - Expert knowledge of Enterprise Resource
Systems (ERPs) - High degree of professionalism
- General knowledge of Oil & Gas
Operations. - Strong and demonstrable skills in personal
effectiveness - Fluency in spoken/written English.
