Job Summary: The Partnership
Manager is primarily responsible for contributing to the strategic development
of the country programme’s partnership approach within development as well as
humanitarian programming, and ensuring compliance standards are incorporated in
all partner agreements. In accordance with pertinent Save the Children policies
and guidelines, the Partnership Manager is responsible for operationalising the
country programme’s Partnership Framework including the Policy, Strategy and
Guidelines. This includes updating the partnership policy, strategy and
guidelines, and be responsible for supporting the effective execution and
implementation of these documents and approaches by rendering technical support
and capacity strengthening within the partnership field as well as through the
active engagement with Save the Children’s governmental and non-governmental
partners. The Partnership Manager, in close collaboration with the other staff
in the country office, has the oversight and quality assurance responsibility
for all Partner Agreements and memoranda of understanding with governmental and
non-governmental partners. The Partnership Manager is responsible for capacity
strengthening efforts within the country programme by supporting and
coordinating capacity strengthening of partners and coordinate staff capacity
strengthening within the partnership field to relevant staff groups at both
country  and field office level. The
Partnership Manager oversees all aspects of partnerships with civil and
governmental organizations.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Save the
    Children International Partnership Manager job placement should preferably
    hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Sciences, Education,
    Development Studies or similar relevant field.
  • At least eight years of relevant working
    experience in an INGO or similar, interfacing with partners and civil
    society organizations.
  • Broad knowledge, understanding and
    demonstrated commitment to child rights issues and the guiding principles
    of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, including
    non-discrimination, child participation and the best interest of the
    child.
  • Program management experience, including
    demonstrated abilities within program/budget development, implementation
    and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Demonstrated methodological grounding in,
    and practical experience with, partnership development and management
    processes, including capacity strengthening and organizational development
    practices (this is a must).
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the
    roles and dynamics of civil society and government actors, respectively,
    and the relevance of engaging with both parties in order to ensure
    effective promotion and protection of children’s rights.
  • Past exposure and experience of working
    with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights
    Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is
    an added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic
    planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain
    conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a
    team.
  • Computer literacy and excellent
    documentation skills are a must.
  • Willingness to travel and work in
    hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and
    ability to work well in an international environment with people from
    diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis
    management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and
    communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning
    capacity.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
