National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation
in the Water sector in Uganda with a Vision “To be a leading Water Utility in
the World.” NWSC is a utility parastatal 100% owned by The Government of
Uganda. It was established in 1972 under decree No: 34. The mandate of the
Corporation as defined in the National Water & Sewerage Corporation Statute
of 1995, Section 5 (1), is to operate and provide water and sewerage services
in areas entrusted to it, on a sound, commercial and viable basis. The NWSC
operations were initially in three towns of Kampala, Jinja, and Entebbe.

Job Summary: The Manager –
Risk Management will effectively and efficiently coordinate the development and
implementation adaptive risk management initiatives and programs aimed at
ensuring NWSC’s operational business continuity as well as sustainable growth
and service delivery

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and implementation
of risk management programs in a manner that fulfils the mission and
strategic goals of the Corporation while complying with the government
laws and accreditation standards related to risk management. - Develop and implement systems, policies
and procedures for the identification, collection and analysis of risk
related information. - Develop cost effective risk management
programmes and ensure adequate monitoring and evaluation - Ensure that all possible risks (policy,
strategy, compliance & operational) are identified, measured and assessed
in a timely manner and that appropriate risk responses formulated and
implemented - Ensure that all possible operational risks
are properly documented and monitored to avoid operational interruptions - Introduce a risk management concept in all
operating systems so that critical activities are given due attention - Ensure that staff are sensitized and
trained in respect to risk management programs, and their respective
responsibilities in carrying out risk the management programs. - Ensure effective coordination of the
implementation of the risk mitigation action plans by the respective risk
owners/ handlers i.e. directorates, departments and areas - Work closely with Internal Audit and
prioritize risks and advise on value for money interventions - Perform any other assignments given by
management
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The Manager – Risk Management must hold a
Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Economics, Statistics
or related discipline - Strong professional skills and experience
in Risk Management - Membership with relevant professional
bodies is an added advantage - At least eight (08) years, must have
worked at a principal officer level for at least two years - At least five years of post-qualification
experience in a vibrant organization - Significant experience in water utility
management - Previous exposure, experience and good
knowledge on Risk Management Systems - Excellent interpersonal skills and high
level of integrity - Self-drive and resilience
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team
of multi-disciplinary professionals - Excellent communication, facilitation and
presentation skills - Keen attention to detail and highly
organized - Proven ability to establish arid maintain
effective business relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. - Strong analytical and problem solving
skills - Age: Above 35 years
