(Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development
organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International
Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and
treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program
offices in 11 countries across Africa, Eastern Europe and North America.
Job Summary: The IT Manager
will mainly  be responsible for designing
IT systems, policies, procedures and maintaining support hardware
infrastructure, monitor the performance of the Baylor Uganda networks as per
best industry practices and in accordance with the Baylor Uganda ICT Strategy.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The IT Manager initiates, develops and
    monitors the implementation of policies and standard operating guidelines
    for ICT policies pertaining to hardware and network systems
  • The jobholder also formulates and monitors
    the implementation of the IT departmental work plans, procurement plan
    & budget
  • Develop an IT departmental ‘operation
    strategy and monitor its implementation then prepare consolidated periodic
    IT departmental performance reports
  • Conduct periodic audit for ‘IT systems
    Periodically carry out Baylor-Uganda website auditing
  • Regularly monitor the implementation of
    controls for website update
  • Prepare and monitor the implementation of
    an IT business continuity plan
  • Keenly review and monitor the
    implementation of HR support activities
  • Formulate and monitor the implementation
    of guidelines on ‘WAN/LAN hardware and software’ network design, usage,
    and security oriented administration
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of
    ICT fixed assets management procedures
  • The jobholder will also develop and
    monitor system for timely response to user concerns/queries in relation to
    the IT help desk.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the IT Manager job
    opportunity must hold a Master’s degree in any managerial course (an IT or
    Systems Masters is an added advantage) with a Degree in Computer Science
    or IT majoring in programming or Business Computing majoring in
    programming and professional qualifications in CCNA, Microsoft, MCSE 2000,
    MCP, MCSA, MCDBA ,CWNA, CCIP and other relevant qualifications
  • At least five years’ experience in IT and
    three (3) years’ experience at managerial level in terms of IT &
    System management.
  • Ability to conduct an IT planning, policy
    & feasibility study, demonstrate skills in system installation &
    management, Network design & management
  • Good team player
  • Good networking and partnership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills
  • The applicant must be dynamic
  • Highly persuasive and convincing
  • Self-motivated and able to demonstrate
    high initiative.
