Diseases Institute (IDI)

organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Officer will mainly be tasked with filing and archiving services.
Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will be tasked with classifying
and indexing records - Keenly track documents removed from files
in order to ensure that borrowed files are returned - Modify and improve filing systems, or
implement new filing systems - Perform periodic inspections of files in
order to ensure correct placement, legibility and proper condition - Ensure that all records are easily
accessible when needed - Respond to information enquiries, giving
appropriate access to information - Providing training to staff who require
access or have responsibility for maintaining records - Ensure compliance with relevant
legislation and regulations - Perform any other duties as assigned by
the supervisor
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Infectious
Diseases Institute (IDI) Filing Officer should preferably hold a bachelor’s
degree in Library and Information Science or Bachelor of Records and
Archives Management - At least three years of related work
experience with a reputable busy organization. - Previous exposure and experience in supervising
staff - Ability to work under minimum supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication
skills - Good problem solving and interpersonal
skills - Good computer skills
- Good team player
