Job Summary: The Faith and
Development Manager will provide leadership and technical support to WVU’s
ministry in bringing holistical transformation through integrating faith
perspective in programming by:
  • Contributing in measurable ways to WVU’s
    goal of achieving positive social change leading to a more equal and just
    society for Uganda’s children that is consistent with our Vision, Core
    Values and Policies.
  • Creating opportunities for open and
    dynamic dialogue leading to greater mutual understanding among staff with
    different ethnic and Christian traditions.
  • Facilitating and collaborating on peace
    building and conflict resolution activities.
  • Developing and integrating initiatives
    that nurture spiritual formation of World Vision staff
  • Developing partnerships with faith based
    organisations and liaise with leaders of different faiths in Uganda to get
    involved in social change/development issues.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Staff Spiritual Formation:
  • Ensure WV Christian foundations, identity
    & witness is reinforced through staff character by;
  • Participation in the recruitment and
    orientation of staff, to ensure staff whose values align with WV identity
    are selected and that new staff have a clear understanding of WV Christian
    identity, witness and foundations and the implication to staff and
    professional/personal engagements
  • Significantly contribute to Christian
    ethos in WVU by designing and championing strategies and programmes for
    transformational bible study, prayer, spiritual guidance and retreats and
    other spiritual nurture activities that equip staff to witness in deed and
    word.
  • Work in close partnership with People
    & Culture (HR), develop and implement programs that build the capacity
    of Senior Leadership and Management teams to practice spiritual
    disciplines, servant leadership integrate their faith and work and to
    empower the staff under them to do the same.
  • Work in liaison with P&C to facilitate
    the development of Christ-Centered leadership for managers to help shape
    Leadership style that demonstrates Christian witness in & outside of
    work
  • Develop programs that build the capacity
    of CC Point Persons and other WVU staff involved in leading chapel and
    devotion groups for effective implementation of staff spiritual formation
    and its documentation
  • Develop and implement guidelines for
    Chapel in consultation with chapel committee to ensure that chapel
    business demonstrates spiritual maturity, promote spiritual growth of
    staff and denominational inclusiveness
Partnerships with Churches and Para-church institutions:
  • Provide guidance to WVU staff and partners
    on WV policies and approaches to church engagement for mutual
    understanding and relevant engagement
  • Engage and build positive relations with
    the church, para-church organizations and institutions, supporters, donors
    and partners to improve their understanding and appreciation of
    opportunities for engagement with World Vision for Child well being
  • Foster engagement with the church for
    holistic ministry including leadership development, spiritual nurture of
    children, advocacy, conflict management and economic development
  • Work in liaison with church umbrella
    bodies, strengthen the capacity of the church to address intra-church and
    interfaith issues that may hinder their participation in child wellbeing
  • Ensure high profile representation of WVU
    in National and International strategic FBO initiatives
  • Ensure that WVU programmes and staff
    engage with the local church for both spiritual development and addressing
    development concerns at ADP level.
  • Develop mechanisms that document key
    learnings and promising practices from Church partnerships
Interfaith Engagement:
  • Ensure the training of WVU management and
    staff on interfaith engagement for appropriate decision making and program
    implementation in different context
  • Establish Interfaith dialogues on topical
    issues relevant to WVU’s work
  • Engage Interfaith groups on Channels of
    Hope models
Spiritual Nurture of Children (SNC):
  • Ensure implementation of SNC is in
    compliance with the Contextualized Spiritual Nurture of Children policy
    and guidelines
  • Ensure that WVU programming integrates SNC
  • Facilitate the formation of partnerships
    with church and para-church organizations for the implementation of SNC
Faith and Development integration in technical programmes:
  • Provide technical guidance for integration
    of Channels of Hope models , Celebrating Families etc) in technical
    programmes
  • Work with programmes and Resource
    Development teams to provide Leadership in resource mobilization to ensure
    adequate funding for faith and development activities.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the World Vision Faith
    and Development Manager career placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Education, Development studies, Social sciences or related
    fields from a recognized institution.
  • Possession of postgraduate
    education/studies in development, theology/missions and/or preferably with
    an emphasis on mission and development will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of five years of relevant
    experience two of which are in leadership position in Faith and
    Development Roles or in working with different churches and Christian
    organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize,
    innovate, plan, and manage programs as well as transfer knowledge and
    skills.
  • Previous experience with international
    development organization desired.
  • Proven experience in team work
  • Must have good Coordination, interpersonal
    and communication skills
  • Must have proven analytical, problem
    solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to market Faith and
    Development programs to donors, collaborating stakeholders and WV partners
  • Must be well respected in society for
    Christian values and professionalism
  • Senior leadership role in a church and/or
    para-church organization strongly desired
  • Should demonstrate ability to work in
    multicultural, multidenominational and multi-faith environments
