About DRC:
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent,
humanitarian organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in more
than 36 countries throughout the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees
and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to promote
durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the basis of
humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in accordance with the UN
Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct for the ICRC and NGOs in
Disaster Relief.
Job Summary: The
Infrastructure Assistant will be providing support for the implementation of
Danish Refugee Council Program with periodic travel to the project areas. The
BID Assistant is responsible and reports to the Child Protection Officer and in
his absence to the Protection and community service Coordinator. The BID
Assistant is directly responsible for the implementation of quality BIA/ BID
processes as a tool for child protection and ensure that the following outputs
under child protection are met; Best Interest determination processes in place
and functional, Prevention and Response Services for children at risk. The
incumbent is also responsible for complying with donors and internal DRC
reporting and accountability policies and procedures. He/She also supports the
protection sector in quality implementation of child protection thematic areas
in synergy with larger protection and community services components which
constitute the overall DRC program in Kyaka.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Manage the identification of children at
    risk
  • Carrying out BIAs and BIDs
  • Follow-up on BID panels’ recommendations
  • Conduct case management
  • Provide psycho-social support through
    counselling
  • Up hold principles and ethical
    considerations and legal frame works for child protection.
  • Tasked with the identification of
    alternative /care arrangement; fostering etc.
  • In charge of advocating for children’s
    rights.
  • Support protection, community services
    activities and other sectors when called upon
  • Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Danish Refugee
    Council (DRC) Infrastructure Assistant job placement must hold a Diploma
    or Bachelor’s Degree in Development studies, Social Sciences and Social
    Work/Administration, Education, etc.
  • One to two years’ experience in labour
    based infrastructure projects in a busy organization, preferably in an NGO
    setting.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
    in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability
    to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Computer literate (proficiency in MS word,
    excel).
  • The applicant must hold a valid riding
    permit and willing to ride while executing his/her duties
