for financial inclusion and use economic analysis to drive decision making for
community development, particularly in underserved areas of the world. SIA has
six full-time partners that have cross-disciplinary expertise including payment
systems specialists, financial inclusion practitioners, telecommunications
industry veterans and an economist specializing in data analysis and modeling.
support two USAID Feed the Future activities to promote digital financial
service adoption amongst smallholder farmers and their value chain partners in
the Northern Region of Uganda on a part-time basis.
The consultant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of
SIA’s project work plan. Some of the primary activities the consultant will
assist with are found below:
- The Consultant will provide strategic and
operational assistance to the SIA project team, to support data collection
and analysis efforts on small holder farmers as well as DFS service
provider agent infrastructure - The Consultant will support the Feed the
Future projects and SIA in engaging value chain partners, particularly as
it pertains to digitizing reporting activities in the field and
establishing a clear cost of cash. - The Consultant will support the
development of interventions including solar home system adoption, the
digitization of village savings and loans associations, seeking options
for digital school fee payments, and any other relevant digital payment
interventions that may be relevant to smallholder farmers in the region.
order to implement the broader activities mentioned above, the consultant will
be required to:
- Participate in bi-weekly planning meetings
with SIA - Participate in update meetings with the
Feed the Future projects. - Coordinate logistics for field visits with
Feed the Future projects, value chain partners, and other relevant
stakeholders - Travel and work in the Northern Region on
a regular basis - Support small holder farmer public awareness
and training activities associated with leveraging DFS product
capabilities and benefits - Support project reporting requirements as
assigned.
Experience:
- The
applicant should have significant experience in mobile money in East
Africa with direct experience with a service provider in Uganda a
plus - Familiarity
with DFS bulk payment products - Broad
knowledge and understanding of Solar Home System pay as you go value
proposition, business model, and product - Broad
knowledge and understanding of agricultural value chains including coffee
is a plus - Self-starter;
able to work well without constant direction - Excellent
communication skills and comfortable working virtually - Willingness
to work remotely with intermittent in-person collaboration - Excellent
technology skills, Microsoft Office skills - Demonstrated
