Mildmay Uganda is a faith- based local Non-Governmental Organisation
(NGO) offering Comprehensive HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research &
General Medical Services; also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale
up comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Job Summary: The OVC Officer
will mainly strengthen community referrals and linkages to enhance quality
comprehensive Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) services for clients at MUg
and in the supported areas of operation.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Mildmay OVC
    Officer job opportunity must hold a Bachelor of Social Work and Social
    Administration
  • Health related qualifications e.g Nursing,
    Palliative care are desired
  • Registered member of National Social
    Workers association of Uganda
  • At least three years of experience in OVC
    Programming
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in
    social & OVC service delivery
  • Previous social work experience
  • Prior counseling experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of
    HIV/AIDS care issues
  • Knowledge of social work principles human
    rights and the law
  • Ability to influence behavioural change
  • Demonstrable experience with Participatory
    Community Approaches
  • Excellent communication (oral and written)
    skills,
  • Good teaching/presentation skills;
  • Highly analytical and good decision making
    skills;
  • Good problem solving skills;
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
    in various MS office packages.
  • Show commitment to quality and excellence,
    and holding the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Highly flexible and reliable
  • Evidence of a non-judgemental approach
    regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
  • The ideal applicant should uphold the
    Christian ethos of Mildmay Uganda.
  • Fluency in both English and Luganda
