About US:
The Medical Research Council/ Uganda Virus Research Institute
(MRC/UVRI) based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe is a
bilateral multi-disciplinary research organization funded by, the Medical
Research Council (UK) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in
Uganda under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and
other donor agencies. Established in 1988, the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on
AIDS is an internationally recognized center of excellence for research on HIV
infection and related diseases, contributing knowledge on the revolving
epidemic, the evaluation of innovative health care options, treatment and
prevention, and the development of health policy and practice in Africa and
worldwide.
Job Summary: The Clinical
Officer will provide healthcare to all MRC study participants
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:   
  • Diagnosis and medical care for study
    participants in the general clinic
  • Provide medical care in the special NCD
    clinics
  • Give health education to study
    participants
  • Organise referral and follow up of
    participants to regional referral hospital where necessary.
  • Actively participate in other research
    related activities as may be assigned by the Project Leader/supervisor
  • Assist in any other duty as assigned by
    Project Leader/Supervisor
  • Manage CCTV surveillance and Access
    control systems
  • Provide and render support in the
    implementation of ICT projects
  • The incumbent will evaluate solutions as
    part of the ICT strategy
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Clinical Officer
    career placement should hold a Diploma
    of Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution
  • Certification
    in good clinical research practice
  • A
    minimum of three years of proven experience in conducting general health
    care consultations, including working on HIV and NCD patients
  • Extensive
    knowledge of the most common pathologies seen in primary health care.
  • Good
    interviewing and interpersonal skills and accurate in handling
    patient records.
  • Fluent
    in English and Luganda.
