Coordinator, VMMC
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Institute (IDI) offers free Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision for HIV
prevention in the Mid-Western and West Nile regions of Uganda.
Regional VMMC Team Leader will oversee the scale up of Safe Male Medical
Circumcision as part of quality Male Sexual Health services in the West Nile
region districts of Arua, Koboko and Nebbi, and will ensure that the VMMC
project objectives and targets are achieved.
Responsibilities:
- The jobholder will plan and coordinate
regional project resources, ensuring their efficient utilization. - Ensure timely and accurate completion and
submission of periodic regional reports and financial accountability. - Manage and supervise project teams in the
West Nile region and participate in VMMC project service delivery
activities. - Build and effectively manage relationships
with all stakeholders in the region that will facilitate meeting project
objectives.
Experience:
- The applicant for the West Nile Regional
VMMC Team Leader job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree
in human Medicine and Surgery (MBChB). - Additional training and certification in
VMMC (including the dorsal slit circumcision method) and knowledge of the
Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine for VMMC policy. - Possession of a Post graduate training in
Project Planning and Management, Public Health or a related field will be
an added advantage. - A minimum of three years’ experience in coordinating complex development
projects in the health field, preferably in HIV/AIDS. - At
least two years’ experience managing multi-disciplinary technical
teams involved in VMMC. - Previous
exposure and experience in providing VMMC for HIV prevention in busy
public health settings. - Demonstrated
experience in establishing effective community based activities;
experience developing relationships with community partners,
District health teams and facility health workers. - Excellent
writing, computer, analytical, presentation and oral skills.
