Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project.
The project supports delivery of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and
laboratory services at selected regional referral and general hospitals.
Program Manager will oversee the implementation of SMMC activities at
project-supported hospitals.
Responsibilities:
- The
jobholder will coordinate the training and on-site support for V/SMMC
teams at supported hospitals. - Supervise
the V/SMMC Community Mobilization Coordinator, ensuring the efficient management
of mobilization and outreach activities by each hospital team. - Work
in close collaboration with the Director of Operations, support the
renovation and equipping of hospital theatres and setting up and
conduction of circumcision camps. - Set-up
quality assurance and control procedures for SMMC. - Work
in liaison with the M&E team, develop systems for effective monitoring
and evaluation of SMMC activities. - Actively
participate in the development and review of policies, plans, strategies,
guidelines and standards in VMMC and monitor their implementation. - Take
part in the planning and budgeting for VMMC activities. - Building
and enhancing collaboration linkages with other Implementing
Partners (IPS), Communities in Health. - Preparing
and submitting periodic performance reports to the relevant authorities. - Offering
support and research initiatives. - Take
part in coordination meetings with implementing partners and other key
stakeholders. - Perform
any other duties as may be assigned.
Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID SUSTAIN VMMC
Program Manager job opportunity should hold a Master’s degree in public Health or related field. Additional
Medical Qualification or HIV training will be an added advantage. - A
minimum of five years’ work experience in HIV program management
preferably with 3 years at managerial level in a reputable
government institution/NGO with proven ability to coordinate activities of
different stakeholders at a national level. - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills coupled with project management
abilities. - Previous
experience in handling Quality Improvement approaches and providing
clinical training to service providers and stake holders are added
advantage. - Ability
and willingness to travel within the supported districts. - Highly
self-motivated and result-oriented person.
