Psychosocial Support Technical Advisor

URC manages projects in over 45 countries, including the United States.
Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project.
The project supports delivery of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and
laboratory services at selected regional referral and general hospitals.
Psychosocial Advisor will be charged with providing effective support to
various health care facilities across the country to strengthen the quality of
psychological support and counseling services for people living with HIV.
- The jobholder will assess the current
strengths and gaps in delivery of quality psychological support and
counseling services at project supported facilities. - The incumbent will document needs for
improving the quality of these services, including service provider skills
strengthening needs. - Formulate a strategy to guide
implementation of PSS. - The incumbent will also develop and
implement appropriate strengthening/improvement plans, working closely
with MOH and other development partners. - The incumbent will mobilize and provide
intensive support to facility teams to strengthen HIV/AIDS psychological
support and counselling activities at respective facilities through
support supervision, mentorship and coaching. - The jobholder will document, monitor and
evaluate the impact of the various
improvement/strengthening activities. - Actively participate in the generation of
project reports. - Perform any other related duties assigned
by the supervisor.
Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID SUSTAIN
Psychosocial Advisor job opportunity should hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, community psychology
or equivalent degree with relevant experience. - A
minimum of four years of professional experience working as a Psychologist/Therapist. - A
minimum of two years of professional experience in providing Technical
support to PSS activities. - Excellent
interpersonal and supervisory, training, mentorship and coaching skills. - Strong
communication and reporting skills. - Ability
to work without constant supervision.
